We won 2 of 3 from Kent State and then swept UConn to get to 5-1.

I highly recommend going out on a sunny afternoon to watch the team. You won't regret it. The stadium is great...

Up to 11-5 after a sweep of Princeton and 2 one-run losses at a ranked Clemson. Pretty solid start to the year for a team wasn't picked to finish very high.

First 2 SoCon opponents (both on the road) App State and WCU should be a test to see how this team will stack up. Take 2 of 3 from those teams and this team could end up pretty good.

BTW, UNCG now sits #58 in the RPI. They have a game tonight at HPU (#208) and a series with ASU (#56) coming up.

As wildly inaccurate as the RPI can be this early in the year, it's good to see the Spartans sitting that high right now.

Cool site. Got any idea what the "NPI" is?

I've got a buddy that worked @ Baseball America and he was telling me once that college baseball RPI formula's are a little jacked up. He said that most websites were pretty close, but that no one was certain if their calculations were right. That's the reason you can find some sites that have G in different spots.

The site is ran by Warren Nolan and NPI is "nolan power index". I guess it's just his formula...similar to RPI...but tweaked for a few different factors (not sure how different from RPI).

This is crazy ... on Boydsworld, he has a stat page called EFI (external factor index). It bascially takes into account everything not directly connected to the team. Stuff like enrolment size, athletic budgets and tons of other stuff. He found out that, on average, 2/3rd's of team success had nothing to do with the team itself.

Pretty interesting read.
