Ok, well this is here. We can take this discussion where ever. What's your attendance prediction? Do we have enough to make this competitive? Is there going to be a sea of red there?

I'll check the spread tomorrow and see what Vegas thinks.

UNCG is turning this into a homecoming game of sorts, which is fine with me b/c I really don't like the regular homecoming game (during soccer season). Hopefully, there'll be a big UNCG fan turnout b/c we know DC will bring some folks.

Threw a bunch of links up on the blog. Figured I'd compiled a list of all the recent news for the game and of all the DC sites that I know of out there.

I had originally planned on coming out to this game, but I think A&T is having a football National Signing Day party on campus on Thursday night.

Wish you guys the best of luck though. I definitely have not been able to drive more than 5 blocks without seeing a billboard promoting this game. LOL

Whatever the ultimate result is, you should at least be proud that your leaders have done everything in their power to make this event successful.

I think that ISP is using this as their "Coming Out" party. And it seems to be working b/c I think there's going to be a ton of locals at the game.

As I've told nelson for 15 years (wow has it been that long). If you build it, they will come. If you promote, they will come and if you provide an incentive they will come.

There is no reason we couldn't have 4K in attendance in Greensboro, if you make the investment up front. Heck there is no reason you couldn't have 8-10K in attendance if you had a product the quality of Davidson on your own home floor.

The amount of promoting that they have done for this game is impressive. I really like that they've turned into a homecoming like atmosphere. I think in the coming years we can have similar turn outs for games like App State and A&T.

Steven, got an attendance prediction?

You really think it'll be that low? Got any inside info? I'm just basing my idea off of ticketmaster and an educated guess, but I'm gonna stick with my number of 8,500. I think that the UNCG athletic department needs a big pat on teh back for the way they've handled this game. I think I read on the DC board that they originally thought moving the game was a poor choice. Even if we've closer to you number than mine, it's still bigger than the 2k we'd have drawn at Fleming.

I stand corrected.

From the G Website:

UNCG faces Davidson in its soon-to-be new home – the Greensboro Coliseum. UNCG announced on Dec. 5 that it will move its home games to the Greensboro Coliseum beginning next season. The arena will be modified to a seating capacity of 7,613 for most home games, with at least two expandable options being available. Thursday's configuration was set for more after more than 8,000 seats were sold before Tuesday afternoon. A crowd in the neighborhood of 10,000 is expected. More than 3,000 student tickets were issued.

I like it. Now here's the real question.

How long can UNCG make this interesting?

Here are a couple articles I found on the News and Record. I thought both of them were interesting.

http://www.news-record.com/content/2009 ... g_spartans

http://www.news-record.com/content/2009 ... a_big_risk

The second one is concerning the move to the Coliseum, something there's been much discussion about on here. I think this article provides some answers to some of the questions that were being asked.

Wow. The writer of the first article really called out UNCG players and coaches. I'm glad to see that. Rather than just dissmissing them as young or irrelevant.

Also, you can see from teh second one that the coliseum is only expecting 3,000/game average from us next year. I'm glad to hear that no one is going into this thinking that we're going to draw 14,000 against Furman.

Vegas has Davidson listed as a 22 point favorite. I love my Spartans, but I don't think we cover.

Announced attendance of over 11,600. For anyone who went did it actually seem like that many people were there?

Yes, it felt full and electric ... and it felt like a home court. Dave you didn't go?

I could say a whole bunch of stuff about the game, but I'm really just happy b/c of one thing ... with under 7 minutes to go in the game, I turned to my wife and said "We're still in this and have a chance."

Did anyone else go over to the Spartanfest? I thought that was pretty cool. Wish there would've been more people to go over and check it out. Got my nephew one of those foam Spartan hats :)

Anyways, based on my expectations, this night gets at least a 7 out of 10. Things were well run and the basketball team played well enough for me to leave happy.
